Its been an emotional week at Molineux. A pa sionate plea from chairman Steve Morgan to the fans, around fifty of whom protested ahead of last nights home game against Watford, and a dramatic Bacary Sako equaliser that earned Wolves a vital point at the last.I, for one, think that weve seen a hint of progre s. I disagree with claims that Morgan and Moxey manage the club without its best interests at heart.Fundamentally, theyve just made some really rubbish calls sacking McCarthy, appointing inexperienced managers to fulfil a challenging brief, and misdirecting club finances on the expansion of Molineux rather than strengthening a squad that badly needed a further injection of quality. As a PR profe Derrick Brown Jersey sional, I think the silence of Morgan has been far from golden and it was high time to open up to the fans. In my opinion, it makes no difference how much Jez Moxey earns and I want the club to be running with a healthy operating profit. But, succe s on the pitch is paramount.Well that succe s is never going to come when the club is surrounded in a hive of negativity. All that matters now is that Dean Saunders, his coaching staff, more senior players and the fans combine to lift Wolves out of the danger zone. The Cardiff game, in isolation, wasnt a complete disaster. We probably should have got something out of a game against a side that is flying high. At least the second half saw a change of urgency and tempo, although our age-old defensive frailty cost them again. All things considered, a draw last night is a decent result. Had it not been for some wastefulne s in front of goal from Fernando Forestieri it could have been another opportunity to put points on the board mi sed.Ultimately, we cant keep saying a point isnt a bad result or theyre top, what do you expect? Wolves absolutely have to start winning football matches, whatever it takes. It doesnt need to be pretty, but it doesnt happen by magic.Weve been running away from this situation and looking over our shoulder for too long now. Its time to make a last gasp effort at regaining some control of our fate. We looked better than Cardiff at times when we got the ball down the channels with a sense of purpose and had more than one striker on the pitch.I said it last week. What are we defending now? We need to start playing to win. Were abominable defensively, and its not just the defenders responsible for that. Its every player on the pitch. Defending starts with keeping po se sion and making life hard for your opponents. Give them something to worry about. We need to forget all this trash about Moxey and Morgan for now. We cant buy anybody now. Whats happened has happened. Whats more important is that we start getting it right on the pitch. We can pick up the pieces in the summer. Id much rather be doing it looking ahead at another year in the Championship.
